SenseCity is an app created for both families of children who have difficulties with sensory processing skills as well as community providers who are sensitive to these issues.
It is estimated that 5-15% of children have difficulties with sensory processing. Not only can typically developing children have these difficulties, but also children affected by autism, ADD/ADHD, prematurity, learning disorders, and genetic syndromes. Different challenges are encountered outside of the comfort of the home environment as children face new or unexpected sights, sounds, smells, and other obstacles.
SenseCity app was designed by a team led by a pediatric occupational therapist and a medical doctor with combined experience of over 34 years in practice. It is the goal of SenseCity app to provide families with a single resource for sensory friendly community providers as well as assist partners in the community by promoting awareness and education about sensory processing skills, providing consumer feedback, and promotion and support of sensory friendly businesses.
